How to surrender?

I did try to start SH3 Commander but you cannot start it when you're playing the game. Now I understand how the surrender thing is working.

After that happens you leave the game and use Commander to change that to "Surrendered". Your career is still over, but you are a prisoner instead of dead.

Similar to DID but a much more pallatable career report.

Do not know the English word "palatable", when I translate this word from English to Dutch (on the web) it is something like tasty ... probably incorrect.

Anyway a real surrender (if possible) would be great in SH5!
