It is all about amps. See what your PSU is putting out amp-wise and then find out how many amps the card needs to run correctly.

Needs 575 watts for single card, 680 for sli. Whew! You'll brown-out the neighborhood.

Yeah... I think I'm screwed.... my power supply is maximum 500 watts....

specs on the card state: Minimum 550 Watt or greater system power supply with a 12V current rating of 40A (630 Watt or greater recommended for non-SLI and 680 Watt or greater recommended for SLI)

The only things I have in my slots are a low power wireless antenna, and my sound card.

Here is my power supply specs... sorry for the poor photo but you would not believe how I had to contort myself to get in there upside down.

The verdict? I can't afford a new power supply...

If no good with only these power specs I would love to ask what card you would recommend as your #2

The 9800 should run fine with this supply I believe.

Yeah... I think that I'll have to bend over this time and not really upgrade.

It is looking for 36 amps. Your PSU is cranking 17 amps on the 12V rail. The card will run but it is possible for the card to fail with the power to be very low from the PSU.

Go for the 9800 you were looking at. With that card you can get a bigger PSU supply also!

If you were willing to put out $250.00 for just that one card.....

Get the 9800 and this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006

It also has a $20.00 mail in rebate also after the sale price!

BTW, I did read were the difference between the 9800 and the 295 yadda yadda Nvidia card was basically the price. Food for thought.
