Graphics card melt-down

Well... I HAD an Nvidia 8800 GTS a few hours ago. I fired up Rainbow Six Vegas 2... saw a pyschadelic display and my computer crashed to the desktop at 640x400 resolution. LOL!

Get this... my new flight chair arrives tomorrow. Well... I'll just take this one in the ass I guess.

I guess I'm in the market for a new card. I'm looking to pay around $230 with a possible performance boost.

I need recommendations sub buddies.

Nvidia 9800 or better:D

Snakeeyes 08-04-09 03:44 PM

I'm amazed how cheap graphics cards are now!!!!!

Thanks for the vote mate. I'll put it in the research pile.

@Snakeeyes Sorry to hear about this expensive loss.

If you live in USA I recommend TigerDirect if you live in California.

More choices and just about the best prices.

Hope you find a good deal. :salute:

edit: I think we also have a swapmeet forum here too.

What I got not long ago. I can't tell a big difference between it and my older 9800, some crisper colors, little faster. The good news is we can now get great video cards cheap. Even a 9600gt only $70.00

Thanks man. I like tiger, newegg and fryes... in that order. :)

Hmmm... whats more important... a new windshield for the jeep or a graphics card?

FRIGGIN' GRAPHICS CARD! I'LL WEAR GOGGLES!

Yea, I almost had a similar experience with my 8800gts.:shifty: Lots of colors, and a crash... (but mine kept on ticking.)

I would have posted Newegg and Fry's but I pay almost 10% sales tax here in Calif.

I have a buddy that had to do that to get his car to the shop to get the windshield fixed. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

BFG 295 GTX H2O

Snakeeyes 08-04-09 04:21 PM

I'm going to guess that it's water-cooled? I'd better not.

Task Force 08-04-09 04:29 PM

I myself am thinking of getting 2 275 gtx's (or maby one 285/295, hell nvidia might have the 300 series cards out then.)
