Please do not ressurect what should not be ressurected. Necromancy is frowned upon in most societies.


On the other hand, this is just another thread for me to spam on


I "cheat" by making certain options worth more realism percentages. I do this to use external camera for eye-candy. I don't use it to scout out or anything, so why should I lose renown for it?

Actually if you play at 100% realism the AI is harder, I think.






Oh, you also get full renown. :p

@ Fulton: Map updates don't have any realism penalties in GWX. I play with that and solution assistance on. I could probably do halfway alright doing solutions 100% manually, but without map updates I would tear my face off.

I sail the U-31 in 100% today. It had been the Weps officer doing the firing calculations for some time, until I was able to get the TDC onto the perscope view. Flicking back and forth F6 -to- F3 drove me crazy.

Ussualy we are playing at Wednesdays and Saturdays.
We start at 20.00 GMT. Password is : HUNT

Does the realism % affect the enemy ships AI:hmm: I just thought it it was about how much work you do in the boat and how realistic the sub behaves,nothing mentioned about AI?

It only gets harder in the sense that you don't have as many aides at your disposal...unlimited battery etc.

I never used the external cam and haven't, done so except for the first couple of months that i had SH3, which is many years ago now or seems like it. It just was too easy to evade Destroyers DC attacks and i could not resist looking to see what was happening up top. So after first 2 months i stopped using it.

I am currently learning to do manual TDC all the time so Weaps officer still on, but not for long hopefully.

Question for you all though. :hmm: If i turn off map updates do the BDU still contact me about Convoys and Task Forces?? If so map updates are getting turned off as well, since IMHO, Subs did get information of Convoy and task force movements if they got spotted by other subs or friendly aircraft. So i had left this option on as in my opinion it was realistic.

But if we still get Convoy and Task forces updates without getting told about every individual ship with it turned off, then off it goes, as the Sonar info on the map is something i can live without as that's what the Hydrophone station is for .
