The Oerlikon was the predecessor Flak C/29, even used on some U-boats in the early days and the 20mm was later often called Oerlikon by the crews even though it was not completely true.

Originally the C/30 was produced in Switzerland also, therefore it is also referrenced as Solothurn ST-5. But Solothurn was a subcompany of Rheinmetall. This was not uncommon for the german weapon industryin the 20s and 30s, they used foreign companies to bypass the limitations of the Versailles Peace Treaty after WW1.
