After uninstalling GWX 2.0, of frustration of "ueber" DD, I tried it again this week coupled with SH3 3.0 and this time following a few tips from this board I was pleasently surprised.
![]() SH3 3.0 enhances the water clearity to my liking and on my first patrol October 1940, I successfully infiltrated a convoy past the destroyers, mainly by going 2.0 knots (it seems that is the big difference). Even if u go 3.0 knots most likely the DD hear you. I destroyed a couple of tankers, then evaded the DD, then after a few game hours attacked the same convoy again in light fog and rough sea and after sinking a coal ship (great eye candy as well when the ship exploded) the DD shot a flare up in the sky (it was 2:00AM and foggy and I never seen that before and thought it was cool) and successfully evaded the DD's. (Just a great feeling) On another note, I wanted to mention that the crew fatigue should be turned on, for a more realistic feel. I attacked the same convoy 3 times nonstop action and my crew is now tired as "hell" and I actually needed to rest them and take a short breather before finishing that patrol. GWX is really a great mod and I thank all for putting in an effort to increase the level of play for Silent Hunter 3. I love using the outside camera and look at my ship and the ocean, its just awesome. Then I attacked 1 single small merchant with my cannon in calm waters and the graphics are darn good for a game that is a few years old. I think GWX enhances the graphics and animation as well (not sure). Great job guys for GWX and to me its the best submarine sim out there today. |
