Just started out on my 1st Eternal Patrol. I was transferred to the new patrol after attacking a lone costal merchant in AM53. We surfaced and began shelling the vessel but the little bugger would not go down. I manned the flak guns and gave her 40 rounds into the waterline before she sank. A moment too late we spot a DD charging up our stern and I call for crash dive. First salvo of ash cans rips through the boat and critical flooding sends us deeper into the depths. I man the hydrophones and hear the DD captain saying “Can you hear me now?”... DD on attack run, splashes, depth charges in the water, We are sinking, we are sinki
