Default damage control, problem or realistic ?

ok got hit and started flooding. i didnt have externals so cant show the damage.
eventually as it started getting dark and the small flooding ( at the time) had me going down with no way back up ( emergency blow etc didnt work)
i got kinda lucky and hit a reef or something at 400feet.
spent the next 10 minutes or so watching the flooding go mad, and my repair crew work theyre socks off.
they eventually got the bulkhead repaired.
then suddenly when all was looking bright again the whole sub flooded and every system broke in seconds.

so it seems as if fixing the bulkhead actually did nothing.
or did the water pressure get to the point it was so severe it bust its way throughout the entire sub.

i cant tell if this is accurate or a bug. it makes sence that even if i got it fixed if the flooding was really critical in that compartment, maybe it all broke before i could start pumping water out again.

but then you would think that getting it fixed (the bulkhead) would mean your no longer taking water on ? and surely 400feet shouldnt be considered crush depth ?

well it was a valiant struggle, somewhat sploiled by the idiotic "end mission mssg"

edit
just to clear it up, the bulkhead was repaired 100%, then suddenly a second later was damaged 100%. wich is why im curious, if i just got "ripped off" or not. would have been nice to get her on the surface and have a look at her.
