Laptop too slow for SH III?

I would love to play SH III, which I just acquired, but after two days of tutorial it seem to be quite painful experience for my laptop. Gameplay is half of time smooth and other half very sticky, mouse moving very slowly, weak response from keyboard. Too long sessions standing at bridge will cause game to slow

Damn waves!
Main is reason is, of course, my laptop HP DV2000z, Turion X64 TL 50, 1 GB memory, and especially Geforce Go 6150.
Is there any work around to make this game little bit smoother in my computer? Any tool for dropping resolution or anything?
Game is now playable, in critical moments slow gameplay will annoy.
