Laptop too slow for SH III?
I would love to play SH III, which I just acquired, but after two days of tutorial it seem to be quite painful experience for my laptop. Gameplay is half of time smooth and other half very sticky, mouse moving very slowly, weak response from keyboard. Too long sessions standing at bridge will cause game to slow :) Damn waves!
Main is reason is, of course, my laptop HP DV2000z, Turion X64 TL 50, 1 GB memory, and especially Geforce Go 6150. Is there any work around to make this game little bit smoother in my computer? Any tool for dropping resolution or anything? Game is now playable, in critical moments slow gameplay will annoy. Thanks! |
yeah sh3 does require a pretty good setup to run. there is a tool in which you can change the res but i think you can only increase it tbh, i havent used it at all so i cant be sure.
only other thing i could suggest is to close any background tasks while running sh3. on your gfx card settings turn off all AA and AF and adjust the settings to more performance rather than quality oh and welcome matey have fun!!! there is also a mod called GWX which is awesome but might not be advisable if your struggling to run stock sh3 |
Welcome:up:

SHIII will run on a laptop. You can't use the 16 Km atmospheric sceen.dat file however, and there are probably a few more mods that make it play too slow. GWX actually speeds up the game on my laptop

Welcome aboard submachine,
And like Mooncatt said, if you're running Sh3 with no mods make sure your not running on the ineternet at the same time......Good Hunting............ |
You can donate your laptop tome if you don't like it :D
or a video card so I can play il2. |
Thanks to all for advices! I wasn't aware that default setting for GeForce (by HP) was quality not performance. Changing that improved gameplay lot. It is now much better, at least tolerable.
So I don't have to donate or sink my laptop to bottom of Baltic Sea :D. Now the problem is I am not able sink any ships. Must be my lousy crew :). Ok, one success: accidentally sank friendy fishing vessel.....:damn: |
