How much luckier can you get?
Ple relay to BDU
U 123 Position BE63 15 Oktober 1940, 0347 hrs. No, radio, both periscopes destroyed, flack guns destroyed, serious hull damage. No casualties. Retuning Lorient. Enemy tonnage 32,000. Been shadowing convoy for 2 days. On second attack convoy had changed course twice. I found miself in unfavorable position with Black Swan approahing. I stopped engines to let it pass. With B. Swan at 900 meters it became obvious I had to either take the Swan out or abandon the attack. Fired 2 torpedoes, 1 impact, 1 keeler. #rd torpedo at a pyro ship. Black Swan changed course and headed for U-123. I order dive to 150 meters, watching Swan on periscope. Swan approaches, depth charges blow up on deck sending Swan's crew flying. Swan makes another pass and drops DCs. This time we are at 50 meters and avoid the salvo by going flank speed. Pyro ship is hit and sinks. Two torpedoes that missed the sloop, impact on Large freighter. We received heavy damage during escort's prosecution. Managed to make essential repairs and stop leaks. And got away. With a bit of more luck, we should be docking in Lorient at 1230 hrs on 18 October.
