Sending mast height to TDC not working?

THEBERBSTER: I am locking on the target, opening the manual, finding the right ship and sending her mast height to the TDC. I'm hiding the manual, but upon pressing "use the stadimeter" in target range dialogue with the officer,
he says "You need to identify the ship to use the stadimeter".

Pretty much mast height is sent but ship is still unidentified. Now I wonder if it's a mod issue or some weird native sh5 bug.
