I'm just the opposite. I joined one forum because several of my friends were already on it. I still see them, but I don't go there anymore.

On the other hand, I did get to one of the Subsim meetings, but had to miss three others. It was fun talking to people I knew from here, and I really regret the missed opportunities to meet some of the others.

The reason I faded from other forums but stick with Subsim is, quite simply, the number of people who are willing to act as if we were actually sitting in a room talking to each other. I find respect, reason and companionship here like no other internet site I've been on.
