Hi all.
In SH3 and 4 I would have external views on so I would have something to do while I was waiting for something to happen. However I often could not resist the urge to use the external views to give me better situational awareness (obviously cheating). Since you can now walk around your submarine, I feel that this can give me something to do while waiting for something to happen, so I turned off external views for greater immersion. Finally to my point. Now I find myself using the periscope underwater to give me better situational awareness. While my periscope is underwater, I can see ships and the ground very clearly, even at night. I have personally not spent much time underwater, so I am not sure of the actual translucency. Underwater photography does show that in the day time, you can see a good distance, but I would think at night everything would be black. So my question is did real submarine captains use periscopes underwater (submerged periscope), and is using the periscope in such a way cheating? |
