Graphics glitch

New pc here, and a new install of SH4 Gold.

Game runs great, but almost every time a torpedo hits a ship I get a weird graphichs glitch where its hull and deck disappear right at torpedo impact.

Anyone seen this before and have a solution?

Windows 7 64 bit
Ati 5850 1 gb with latest catalyst drivers

These are my current settings but I have tried turning things off, on, down, up, etc and I still get this problem.

Edit: This is stock, no mods installed yet.
