Do u follow ur order and go to the designated patrol destination?

Hello everyone. I'm a totally newbie here and to SH3. But i'm enjoying it especially the career mode.

My question is， sometimes i don't really like to go to some remote areas assigned me, and I find that after I reach those destinations and patrol it for 24 hours, it seems to give me no reward i.e. renown.

So should I totally ignore the orders and go straight to the grid I like? Will Donitz get mad at me if I always disobey orders?
Playing with GWX 3.0 and SH3 Commander 3.2.
