Yeah, I know this is technically a copycat thread, but since we're discussing museum boats, here are some pictures I took of the Lionfish at Battleship Cove when I visited on Thursday.
The bow of the sub. They must have repainted Lionfish sometime in the past eight years, because the paint didn't look that great when I went in 2001. ![]() The deck gun can still be trained and elevated, although I didn't have enough time to try it out myself. The paint on the bridge and aft deck could use some touchup. ![]() A better view of the deck gun (a 5"/25 Mk 17 wet mount). You can find more information about this weapon here: http://navweaps.com/Weapons/WNUS_5-25_mk10.htm ![]() I wasn't trying to be artsy fartsy when I took this one. Seriously. ![]() Seriously, do I need to tell you what this is? ![]() The captain's bathroom...I think. ![]() The sonar station (sorry about the plexiglass.) ![]() View looking forward into the Captain's bathroom. I hope those giant green things aren't what I think they are. ![]() The corridor leading to the control room. Good thing I'm not "big boned" anymore. ![]() Submarine life was no easy thing, and I'm sure the plexiglass panels obstructing all of the controls were more of a hindrance than a help. ![]() |
