As the well known saying goes, lures have caught many more fishermen than fish.

And all I was going to add was, thats TINY for a channel cat. The state record too, spoiled in the midwest I guess.

ML you're absolutely right, getting a hit, setting the hook, and the battle, nothing like it in the world. Some days you're the bat others you're the ball......

Sheesh, if I ever saw something that big in the ocean I would get its AoB and put a few torpedoes into it.

That is one big fish!

What did it weigh?

And how is it it being supported or are you just that fricking strong?

I also fish Biggest thing I caught in freshwater was on are boat, It was a 8 pound Bass. Thing was cought on a cricket and a hook that was smaller than a penny. In salt water Ive cought some big fish that was green and silver, that was alittle over a foot long, And a croaker that was the same size. Smallest thing ive caught was a croaker that was three inches long on a hook the size of a quarter.:rotfl:

I think it would taste like tuna. Youd need a strong wall to hang it on.

I need to try that! How do you eat such a massive fish? Buy a freezer for it and it alone?

280 lbs. I bet that went on for a couple hours!

You only get a bit over 40% of the weight back from the processers in filets.. so thats about 120 lbs of filet...
and yes.. I have a coffin type freezer in the garage.

On that trip we were releasing anything under 150 lbs (this is still a big fish!).. I kept only 8 fish for the whole trip.. the unprocessed weight of those 8 fish was just under 1100 lbs!
