Naaw, I still have like milllions of lures in my tackle box. Like 8 fishing poles..plenty of hooks..I am BassProShops! :D

Fishing is still fun, I love to catch bass and channel catfish

REEL men ... fly fish. Have caught and released tons of Bass, Sunfish, and a rare Salmon when in Alaska on a Cruise ship excursion trip.

Back in the murky grey days before time was actually counted (1979-1980 abouts) I worked on a commercial salmon boat out of Ucluelet BC.
Later in life I started long Range fishin from Sandy Eggo...
about 4 years ago I got my (so far) "fish of a life time"

Dude, this fish took me 10 minutes to get by me with a barbless hook on a nine foot Fly Rod.

The size and length does NOT matter.

The fun of getting "IT" does. [Getting it in your hands]

No BAIT was used. Was using a home-made fly tied by me. Very rewarding.

Caught him/her, then released him/her and saw him/her swim away. Fun beyond the fun button.


Was a 30 or 32 inch salmon - darn thing wore out my shoulders just landing it. Best moment in my entire life!

ML, you remind me of a couple of favorite anecdotes.

1) I occassionally see a bumper sticker that says "Time spent fishing cannot be deducted from a man's life." Love it, even though I don't fish myself.

2) Years ago I read a little piece about a guy taking a class in sailing. He said the instructor came into the classroom and said "I've written something on the board. Read it, and then tell me if you don't understand it, and I'll give you your money back and you can go; no harm, no foul." So he read the board and all it said was "I can teach a man how to sail. I can't teach him why."

Back when my father was young, my grandfather was a serious weekly fisherman (They lived in Burlington Vermont, walking distance from Lake Champlain). Anyway, my grandfather was a man with hardcore simplistic values about fishing. It was done with a fishing pole, a hook, and a good old worm, not some fancy lures and expensive tacklebox full of crap.
Anyway, my grandfather's friend dissagreed and had hundreds of shiny, fun, hooky little lures for every occasion and my grandfather always ridiculed him because of it.
My grandfather, decided to be silly one weekend and poke a little fun at his friend's fancy lures. One of his jobs was manufacturing wooden teeth. He built a pair of chompers, weighted them down a little, and took them on the fishing trip with his tacklebox toting buddy. He tied the wooden dentures to his fishing line and cast off. Now you would expect this to be totally rediculous (and it certainly looked that way), but you can imagine that reeling the thing in made the dentures wobble and spin like mad through the water. Suddenly, my grandfather got a bite. He reeled in a huge fish.... and then another.... and then another. He caught a LOT of big fish with it. Apparently the fish are attracted to big old sets of wooden dentures spinning around through the water up there.
The next trip however, he gave up the wood chompers and went back to worms. :D

I enjoyed EVERY minute. Felt good ... did good, caught the fish, released it ...then let it go for someone else to catch on another day.

Yea, seems weird. I released the fish for YOU to have the same fun!

when I was working on the commercial boat they didnt exactly share your viewpoint :)

As for moby tuna there.. took about an hour 15 min. to land him... it hurt a lot!
However the very first tuna (bluefin) I ever caught was about as bad... and it only weighed 30 lbs! caught on 15 lbs outfit ... took a little over an hour...
