Default What wheel?

I thought subs were steered from the conning tower or control room but not the bridge? I must be missing something from your screenshot!

there are other screenshots showing that there is a steering wheel in the conning tower in my general thread, I wanna know how to get it to be manned like the one inside the sub, and with the same guy.

Does skwas's new s3d show a node? With the new 3d model showing it might and you could figure out who he is, I'm not sure but I think it' Fred. Oh, no it was Joe forgot Fred got court martailed. He must be listed either in the dat or a upc, I would think. You may have to do a clone on him, I don't think you could move him during the game.

Yep, you'd need to add the equivalent of the interior node and .upc code to the conning tower. Same concept as adding the 3d crewmembers to the AA guns, but you've got to add the node for the crewman to the .dat for the conning tower.

the wheel in coning tower was only used during docking maneuvers. On patrol it was steered from command room.

Maybe it's just terminology but it was the bridge station (outside) that was essentially never used. The conning tower station (interior) was the prefered station and the Control room was an emergency station.

from the Real Fleet Boat manual:

20B4. The steersman. The steersman is normally stationed in the conning tower, unless otherwise ordered by the officer of the deck.
The duties of the steersman are as follows:

Maintain the course.
Operate the maneuvering room annunciators as ordered by the bridge.
Know the duties of the conning tower watch.
Assist the conning tower watch as necessary and be able to take over at any time.
Know exactly where all conning tower alarms are and operate them only when ordered to do so by the bridge.

I think he's talking about IJN subs here, so where the helsman on a fleet boat was stationed is quite irrellevant.

So, is there any information available about where the Japanese stationed the helmsman when running surfaced? Is there ever likely to be? Only having a man on the bridge when visual (i.e. in-port) maneuvering is required would be the sane thing to do in any navy. Most of the time when surfaced on patrol the captain isn't on the bridge, and there is nothing that requires the helmsman to see where he's going. He's following the ordered heading and keeps his eyes on the compass at all times. And he's one extra man to squeeze down the conning tower hatch when a crash dive becomes necessary.

Then I guess the tower's ready as it is just the watchcrew, I don't see why it would differ that much in the IJN but you never know

I made a brand new uv map with bigger pieces, the only thing is I don't have a good riveted steel texture...

from stern :

from bow :

inside :

Thanks @ all
