Welcom aboard,

What version of the game are you running

were you running a previous version

did you add or remove mods from either.

as often as not theres a ship in the sea folder that isnt in the
names cfg file or vice versa, then again theres about a gazzillion
possibilities, so more info would help.

Welcome aboard, Rev. Beetle. You say you are getting a complete computer reboot, not just a crash to desktop? I'd be wondering about a system problem of some sort, or a really bad driver problem. What kind of power supply are you using? Which XP service pack are you using (SP1, SP2 or {heaven forbid} SP3)?

Also, when you installed the game, did you let it install DirectX? If not, when was the last time you updated DirectX?

Also, the box said it will support the 6200. However, the game will play, if at all, like it is on crutches. I had the 6200 and promptly dumped the card the very next day after I got SH4. Just food for thought.

Welcome aboard.

What do you mean by "no slots"?

You do know that if you buy a new graphics card, you'll have to remove the previous one?

That said, is your current card in an AGP or PCI-E slot?

What make/model is your computer? If it's a 2006 model, it should have at the very least an AGP slot even though you may not currently have an AGP card. Anyway, I wouldn't want a PCI card. If your computer truly doesn't have at least an AGP slot, then it looks like it's time to upgrade.

Aargh, I think this is the mother board you have: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...name=c00361570

If that's true you're right, neither a PCI-E slot nor an AGP slot on there.

Had a chat with an arch-nerd friend of mine.

He suggested going for a PCI-E compatible motherboard and transferring the CPU and RAM (you've got DDR2 from what I can see). Seeing how PCI video cards are damn expensive that might be a solution worth considering.
