Default Bletchley park in GWX....

I had long suspected convoys of being routed around me in GWX 2.1 and a recent post by Brag reinforced that suspicion.
Are Convoy course changes and the presence of escorts or aircraft in GWX related to radio transmissions or are they just coincidence?

Hey Lance,
Each convoy and ship follows a predetermined route. BBW had been working for over a year to make it more difficult to find and intercept sea traffic.

(I should have never told him about the discovery of Tanker Alley) :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm about to return to a patrol where I think I discovered a hot spot for lone ships. Will report later.

If you look in the stickies for the map in Operation Spinnenetz, it will show some of the convoy routes.

I have heard that sending a radio message will draw aircraft to you, if you are in range of a enemy airbase.

% factors in the way of spawning and routing have now been added to the routes to stop cheating buggas/woosies like Brag exploiting the game :rotfl:

Perhaps I should be more specific.
Starting in about May of 1940 I noticed AM97 was a great place (logically) to catch convoys.
Once I got fairly close to one I would get a contact report even though my boat could not see them.
I assumed these are supplied by B-Dienst decrypts.
However, seemingly immediately after I received the reports the convoy changes course. Ultimately I get stuck In a desperate chase with frequent hydrophone checks to get in front of it.

From the replies so far I gather there is no rerouting of convoys and it is just my bad luck combined with frequent convoy course alterations.

If this is incorrect and some other mechanism is at work here it is doing a great job of simulating the work of Bletchley Park's cryptanalysts and staff. Bravo GWX!

BTW HW3 I am almost positive that radio messages do call down the thunder. The past 4-5 convoys I have attacked used up all my torpedoes and as a final service I supplied a contact report, only to be beset by 4-6 Escort vessels after I sank the convoy escorts. In fact I would suspect that DD's that are damaged but not sunk can return to nearby ports and then return to pursue you as I always seem to be attacked by escorts of the same type as ships I damaged but did not destroy several hours later.

Any additional insight is appreciated!

This buggas not so woosie is researching a certain area in the Atlantic where the fishing been almost as good as Tanker Alley. Hehe he

Will see how it goes. Dept GWX of the British Admiralty may have another fit .

Really? My experience shows different. I got convoys OK. Not as often as in stock. But I don't feel like convoys are being routed arround me. In fact, just yesterday I hit a Caracas-New York Convoy for 50K GRT. Hit numerous small convoys.
