Default When it rains, it poors!

Just finished a patrol that started off good and went down the tubes quickly. Sank a couple of ships on the way to the patrol grid, completed the 24 hour tour, then started chasing a convoy west. That's when the trouble started.

Tried not to, but had to save the game while near the convoy, submerged, with a destroyer overhead looking for me. Started the game back up and all of the sudden, there were warships all over the place up top! Couldn't get a look at them, but figured they might be a glitch with the program, ie; duplicate escorts. Strange thing was, they went the opposite direction the convoy was going.

Once the destroyer got bored and left, I surfaced to recharge and repair the conning tower damage from the earlier foggy run in with said destroyer. Weather was medium visibility when the boat surfaced and the 'group of rouge destroyers' was a safe distance away. Started to repair the damage and all of the sudden, I started hearing gunfire and explosions coming from outside! Damage reports abound, and it doesn't dawn on me that we're being attacked by aircraft until I actually see them for myself. So, down we go again. Confused and bruised, repairwork is started and the soundman starts reporting a destroyer closing. Then an other! DEEPER!!!

After these two get bored, I start having a strong feeling that they weren't a glitch in the program from the save, but rather a task force (with carrier) that was generated by the campaign file. First time I've ever had this happen. Needless to say, since I'd been bombed and riddled twice, I figured it best to return to port because of the unknown amount of hull damage.

2.1 sounds nasty. But too late to retreat. On the other hand the war hasn't started for me and I'm doing a goodwill ccruise through the Chanel Ports

Actually, all I'm running is RUb 1.45. Haven't downloaded GWX, yet.

And the next patrol after this one was much worse. Torpedoed a small freighter, went to the assigned grid, etc. Went chasing after another convoy and once I was within about 15km, I was attacked by aircraft again. Couldn't dive in time and was strafed and bombed before the boat went under. Lost the First Watch officer and another crewmember.

Should have left that convoy alone and returned to base, but I knew what was inside that convoy. An aircraft carrier. Couldn't get close enough for a shot on the carrier, but managed to sink a destroyer that decided to chase me. I lined up the torp at 180deg and lured it into my trap.

The torp went under it and armed/detonated right at stern. It was hilarious watching the thing sink. It did a wheelie, complete with the searchlight flitting frantically in all directions. Then it went straight up and down and sank stern first. :rotfl:
