Default Im back again, and GWX is kicking my butt

in the middle of a convoy attack off the west coast of brittan, one of these jucy 1940 convoys byt the escorts always seem to pick me up, even runninf at 40M at 2 knots...

40m is really, really shallow.

Way too shallow. Go deeper, say about 100m (if you can).

J. S. Balz says:

Forty meters is a perfect depth to listen to the distant sweet, murmur of approaching screws.

After doing the hoochie-woochie boom-boom, dive deep into the cold embracing bosom of the ocean.

Possibly even 150+

If hunted by competent ASDs, I go deep - 150M or more. Partly because I've heard early depth charges can't go that deep, partly because that extra depth forces a wider margin of error on the falling depth charges. Just like low-altitude bombing is more accurate than high-altitude, shallow-depth depth charging is more accuratent than deep-depth. Go deep!
