Yesterday on my 6th patrol (SH3 + GWX2.0), I intercepted a fast moving task force with the Hood and another cruiser inside protected by 6-7 destroyers, near Island.
I managed to slip by the first leading DD undetected and also slipped past the screen DD as well. Unfortunatly the task force is moving fast while I am creeping along like a snale ![]() I did not get closer then 2000 meters and calculated my 4 torpedo salvo. To my dismay and hard work manovering into position my torpedoes missed the Hood by half a boats lenght ![]() "Pissed off" at myself I went down to 180 meters and changed course to the opposite of the task force. I am amazed that only 2 out of 7 DD came after me and one of them dropped DC around my vicinity (still wasnt even close to get damaged). I expected at least 3-4 DD to come after me like angry bees. The DD was actively pinging around but never found my position. This was a very easy escape in March 1940. Actually the more I think about it this was by far the easiest eascape so far with GWX 2.0. (Mind you stock SH3 all you have to do is go silent and deep and your good, way too easy). I would have loved to "nail" the Hood but so far out and at a fast speed its just hard to get a good firering solution. |

Nice try--Fast moving TFs are not easy to nail.

Good work, nevertheless!
By the way, your self-confidence will be put to the test and surelly be shaken in the summer of '43 and afterwards. Be carefull Commander and never lose courage! - SO: Depth charges in the water, sir! - Bernard: Stop giving advice to Flashmax09 and DO something! - Shut up you @#?!/^* - SO: They are pinging us sir! - Bernard: So what?! He's gonna freeze the game again and wait for Flasfmax09 to reply! To be continued... |

If you get another shot try aiming your fish 1m under the hull, the mighty BB's can be put down.
![]() If you shoot a fan at the hull with I/P and maybe score a hit, might as well be using tennis balls.

![]() Quote:
With large/capital ships find its more effective to go for magnetic (even in bad weather) long as you don't overestimate the draft and aim too low. So even if it misses and doesn't go under the keel you'll still score a hit at the low hull section. |
