Dell Vista 32 bit machine, 1 gig ram, Core 2 Duo (6300 @ 1.86 GHz), GeForce 7900 GS.
Despite frame rates ranging from 20-35 in exterior view, the machine I play on (a friend's) suffers from severe lag, even on (or especially on) the nav screen. Zooming in or out on the map typically makes the machine lock up anywhere from 1-20 seconds. During these episodes the sound cuts out too. I've knocked most of the graphics options down low, but that doesn't seem to help (much). Having played other games on his rig I've noticed that his hard drive (default one which came with the Dell) seems very slow and lags bad on a lot of applications. My 4 year old XP machine will often load a game (like BF1942) in about half the time his does. So if SH4 is using a lot of virtual memory, I'd imagine I'd get all this lag. Suppose I'll have to buy him some RAM for his birthday. In any event I'll be getting a new machine of my own in a few months and I certainly won't be buying a Dell. |

1 more gig of RAM should help you.
