Self-destructing flak guns
When I started a new career in 1940 out of La Rochelle in a IXB, the first alert I got from my crew was that my flak guns were destroyed. I hadn't even started the engines to move out of the dock yet! I got the same message from my crew when I loaded a career save when I had reached BE22 so if I spot a plane all I can do is dive (not that I would do anything else anyway.) Can anyone explain this behaviour? I have got malfunctions+sabotage enabled in SH3Cmndr 3.0 so this might be the cause, although I think it's a bit much for somone to blow my guns up when I'm still in dock!

Well duh! The damned frenchies put dynamites on the gun barrels.
This is one of those reasons why I stick close to Fatherland. (Or, you got your game screw'd somehow, this is something that hasn't never happened to me when having sabotage enabled) |

Well, I do recall a deck gun explosion that was due to the crew forgetting to remove the water plug from the barrel...so that wouldn't be totally unrealistic.
EDIT: Found it, it was U-156 on 16 Feb 1942. Last edited by KptLt Lindemann; 03-15-08 at 02:12 PM. |

It would help to know a few more things about your installation of SH3 like:
I belive you can fix it by either changing your conning tower in game or replacing the IXB turm .dat file with the VIIC or IXC turm and renaming the replacement file to the old IXB turm dat filename. I'm not sure as to exactly how this is done. Could a more experienced old wolf offer up some wisdom on this one? Installing GWX will also fix this flaw and it includes numerous other bugfixes for SH3.

I run a IXB sub with gwx2.0 and have never encountered that problem, but i don't have sabotage enabled either.
Do have a problem with some upgrades not being available when they say they are tho. When i hit the question mark to show dates they are released they show a IXB 2 conning tower available in the spring of 1940, i'm in the spring of 1941 and its still not available to me |
