Guys, I wish I had a screen shot, but I came across a convoy with a Type VIIC uboat travelling with them. No other ships seemed to mind and the escorts didnt even throw a rock at it. The uboat was on the outer end of the convoy column.
Anyone else seen this? |

Are you sure it wasn't an allied S-class boat. They often are present in convoys.

There was a fierce storm and I used the cheat "L" button to see through the rain and there she was... Type VIIC uboat. I also did ships camera(< and >) to scroll through the ships and it was indeed a uboat. Wish I had the s-shot to show you.
even when I went to the map station and clicked on the icon, it was labelled type VIIC. It was located where the S-Boat is usually located: flank column, rear position. edit: I play GWX2.0 loaded via SH3 Commander |

Hmmm, that indeed is very interesting.
How fast was the convoy going? If slow speed the u-boat was rigged on silent run. That might be the reason why the ships didn't seem to "notice" it. But thats just a guess, let the other and more skilled members have the honor to answer this strange event. |

in clear weather if your lucky enough to witness this, the U-boat(s) will engage the allied convoy in gun battle (but as we know they cant yet submerge or fire torpedos) however... if as you say there was a "fierce storm" my guess would be that the U-boat and the merchants/escorts were out of the AI visual range of one another. therfore, no agressive action occured and no attempts to evade occured because neither AI sets detected the other. if the weather had been less severe, or even CAVU (clear and visibility unlimited) some serious sh*t would have been going down in funky town! make sense? hope so because thats the best i can do

GWX is complex enough that some very weird events can happen.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping that something was not wrong.
Yes, it was one of those storms that you cant see 300m in front of you. Gotta love GWX! |
