Default GWX 2.0 questions...please help.

Hi, I have a couple of questions regarding the supermod...

1. In SH3 community manual, there is a spoiler section that lists the enemy moored capital ships (location and date) under the HUNTING GROUNDS heading. Is the information the same in GWX? If not, where can I find the info?

2. The only thing I would like to change with GWX is that I prefer stock SH3's way of using background music while in a mission, which GWX had deleted (i don't mean the Radioman's Gramophone, I mean the background music that is always on in stock SH3). Do you know which files I need to change or copy to bring back the background music (I don't care if its the background music of GWX or stock SH3, as long as it is continuously playing while I'm in a mission).

3. In the GWX JSGME options, which can be accessed after installing GWX, there is a "merged campaign" mod. Anyone know what this is?

4. I actually liked the lighter undersea water colors, although I know that GWX made them darker for the sake of realism. Do you know how I can modify the brightness of the undersea water colors to make them brighter again (like in stock SH3) so that I can view my submerged uboat more clearly?

Other than these, i must say that I am very thankful for the GWX Team for producing such a freeware mod, which I find almost perfect, and I am proud to have donated for using it!

1 & 3 I dont know.

2: In SH3 Commander, there is option that allows you to adjust water clarity. That should do the trick.

#1 don't know for cartain.
#3 Because of long loading time if all the campaign files "merged campaign" are loaded, the Black Sea and the Far East have been culled out. If you want all files loaded, and, say you want to use the Black Sea, you will be wasting a lot of time if you load all the files.

so you're saying that it is a waste of loading time to choose "merged campaign" in the GWX optional mods?

If you are not going to sail a Black Sea or Far East campaign it is. It won't hurt if you load the merged campaign anyway, it just will take longer for the sim to load up.

Hello. Here are your answers

Some of the information for stock SH3 applies for GWX. More detailed information concerning hunting grounds can be found in the GWX Manual.

Once again the GWX Manual has all the answers. The Merged Campaign option installs all the campaign files together for all the operational theaters. If you have a low spec computer keep the default option that just loads the Atlantic. if you want to hunt in the med, the Black Sea or the Indian ocean you need the relevant capaign files or the merged campaign (all of them together). More information can be found in the GWX Manual.

You can change the colour of the water via SH3Cmdr if you wish. The water settings are under the "SH3 Options"-"Game Settings" menu.

I always keep a separate stock SH3+1.4 Data folder stashed away, just in case I need to retrieve anything.

I'm assuming you didn't do that. You can re-install stock SH3, but direct it to a new folder of your own making. You then go into the Data/Sound/Music folder. The files you want are all in there. Personally I like the music off, but if you like the "movie" experience, more power to you.

As for spoilers, download SH3Gen. It generates information based on the actual campaign, and you can set it to give partial, or even false information; or you can set it to tell you everything that's there at any given time.

Thanks steve for the info. Luckily I have all the stock SH3 data. I'll ask again if I have more questions.

As for the lighter water, i.e. the original SH III colors settings, the clarity in SH3ommander doesn't help. You need to adjust the actual coloring of the water as well. I replaced the files called envcolors.dat from GWX with the ones from the stock SHIII. You can find them in the mod unrealuboat as well.
