Lets talk about SHIII night sky

Ok,

First question; can the night sky be modded :hmm:

If so;

secondly; where do I find this file :hmm:

and now that we have added objects to the game, can we add shooting stars :hmm:

I've got a strange feeling the answers will be;

No

No and

No

Yeah...there's only about a bajillion stars missing since you are usually far from land and any light pollution that would wash them out. You should see the Milky Way as well. Throw in the planets maybe? :hmm: Venus and Mars are all right tonight.

Alas, the game wasn't built for astronomers.

From what I can tell, the main constellations are there and they seem to be in the right place for the time of the year. I haven't checked them out with accuracy.

The beattles! :rotfl:

I think in the very least, shooting stars would add a nice environmental element to the game.

the scene in Jaws comes to mind when the shooting star zooms overhead past the "Orca"

Meteroites would be a nice touch.

I know I'm dreaming, but I would love to have the aurora borealis in the night sky when near the arctic circle. The aurora australis when down south.

When it comes to game mod ideas even the sky is not the limit.

Hey! If Microsoft can do it.....:p

As much as Il-2 is played in northern Russian skies you think Oleg Maddox would have worked 'em in. :hmm:

Aurora? :hmm: I think I got enough reinbow colours in my Command Room on my crew uniforms and skins, as well as on my periscopes when wet. :rotfl:

I'love to have a "full service" skies, I'm not an astronomer, but I like seeing beautiful sky full of shiny far worlds. One doesn't see it often these times in places like mine.

Well, it is possible to navigate by the sun and the stars in the game... so what is there is pretty accurate. But a more crowded sky would be good for those rare quiet nights.

The Env skycolors are only for the sky itself as you probably know, but I have never come across anything to do with the stars, although the moon is there as a tga file you'd think the stars would be as well, may be embedded in a dat file or, hopefully not, hard coded!
