Thanks for this little fix. I just put it in and it is a nice improvement. Thanks, again.

I am also having the artifacts problem. I have downloaded the mini-tweaker and the scene_dat.text file, but I'm not sure where to put this file.

Where do I place the scene_dat.text file?

BTW, I get black flashing triangles on the sun and moon with both the 8k mod but not the 16k. the 16k gives me flashing land textures when viewed from a high altitude. I am running GWZ 2.0 with a 8800gt.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Orwell64, and welcome.

If i remember correctly, you should place the .txt file in a folder called : "Tweakfiles"

For exemple, mine is : "F:\Utils\SH3 Mini Tweaker\Tweakfiles\

Be sure to rollback SH3Commander (if you use it) before tweaking.

So you said this will fix the black triangles in the sky AND lighten up the night...that would be a double bonus to me as I have Black triangles and a frustratingly dark LCD monitor and would LOVE To lighten the night a tad.

It seems like most of the complaints are coming from Kaleuns with GeForce 8800 chips, yet I have yet to have any artifacts, tearing, or any other graphics problem. Am I just the lucky one, or is my time coming?:hmm:

AMD Athlon 64X2 3800+ (2.0Ghz)
eVGA GeForce 8800GTS PCI-E 320MB 320-bit GDDR3
Corsair XMS 2GB RAM
ASUS A8N-SLI MoBo
Antec 700W PSU

Hi KS.

Its hard to say. The majority of the black triangle anomaly reports appear to come from Nvidia 8000 series users... but even so... I'm pretty sure we've fixed the issue in the upcoming GWX 2.1 update release. Basically, it is a residual stock SH3 issue that seems to have reappeared for certain card users... you can see mention/evidence of it in the stock SH3 readme file.

One setting I forgot to click on when I did my fresh SH3 install for GWX 2.0 is the Synch setting..... So I bet that solves a lot of my tearing issues.

Kpt. Lehmann..... GOOD NEWS! S! and thanks. You guys keep fixing issues that, without your intervention, would kill SH3 for newer technology computers. Guess once you guys release the "final" GWX I will need to keep a 2nd old tech computer that runs SH3/GWX well for a few years as technology advances and SH3 dont seem to play well.

Using Mahrks ocean madness file and adjusting the horizon setting with the mini tweaker seems to have resolved the artifacts issues. I also like the lighter night sky which makes it possible to play night mission during real life day time. I am really enjoying GWZ 2.0. It's excellent and has made silent hunter 3 an exceptional sim. I have had SH4 for quite awhile now, but have not gotten too it because I am only beginning to scratch the surface of this one.

Thanks again all for the help.
