Hey thanks Dave!

BTW, someone reported a "Cannot read from a closed TextReader" error after applying patch 1.4. Has anyone seen this?

The only thing I've noticed is that your mod doesn't support the base change to Midway. It basically says Flottila: Peal Harbor, Base: Unknown.

Wow, that's a new one to me! The info is read right out of the saved game output files. If you can prove that is the only time it occurs, then I can look for the "unknown" string and replace it with the correct info. Otherwise, if it's not unique to that instance, I'll have to leave it as it is.

Thanks for the info!!!

As long as I was stationed at Pearl it worked well, but as soon as I was transfered to Midway it said that the base was "unknown".

Technically, this is not a modification of the game, but what I would call a "helper application." What it does is analyze the saved game of your choice, and gets the info out of those files. The intent is that when you get sub damage, you save your game and load it into Damage Control. It will give you an estimate of how deep you can likely dive. It is an estimate only because the guess is based upon the experience of the crew! I made it this way to give you a sense of how deep you can dive, yet the anxiety of not knowing exactly how deep you can go. Of course, the more experienced your crew, the more accurate the guess.

Since this does nothing to affect the game in any way, you can install it at any time and you can use it as soon as it is installed. You don't even have to exit the game.

I guess you got more info than you asked for.

If you decide to give it a try, I hope you have fun with it!

Default Could someone tell me if the in-game time/date are being updated now?

I doubt it because these files are leftovers from the SH3 days, but I had to ask.

Nope, the only way I know to get the save file date and time is reading the .crp file to the end and record the last date and time.

Default "Base: Unknown" issue

Ha Ha:

Okay, you got me. It looks as if I hardocoded the bases into the application instead of looking into the flotillas.upc for string matches. Had I programmed it in the latter way, it wouldn't care what bases were specified.

Sorry, my bad. I'll fix it as soon as I can.

Default DC version 1.0.5.003 is out

It contains a fix for the problem where if your flotilla and/or base is new (as compared to SH4 1.3) DC would report it as “Unknown.”

DC can be found at:

http://users.gotsky.com/kaf/damage%20control/

Have fun!

*Actually, I am surprised this hasn't surfaced sooner as I know there are mods out there that add new bases and stuff...

Default version 1.0.6.0 is out...

Okay, so you guys got me foolin' around with the application again. I made the change so that Damage Control now reads the date and time from the command log, if at all possible. This makes the date and time as close to the in-game date and time as the last command issued (or whatever shows up in that text box at the top of the screen in-game).
