AI Detection Behaviour

What I'm interested in finding out about is the effect different types of conning tower have on the AI's ability to detect your boat.

I'm quite aware that your height above the water, aspect ratio to hunter and dived depth all effect how the AI see your boat.

To my mind in the real world the size of your conning tower would also influence your detectability. But is this modelled in the game?

If your not into shooting down Aircraft would it be better sailing round with the smallest conning tower possible? Even regarding active sonar or Radar location, a larger conning tower must provide a bigger reflector for those pings and microwaves.

But is it modelled?

:hmm:

hmmm I am not certain but I belive so
I think the sensors enjoy a detection of probability
where its "reduced in the surface clutter"
this has a defined hieght limit where above this
its detection values increase.

the game I believe models the hieght of the
combination of aggregate hieght of hull and
conning tower above the water line and
when dropping down to the hull down position
you drop into the surface clutter zone.

its entirely possible that the hieght of the
combination could now or could be made to
be above the line of increased detection value
however any portion above inside regular radar
range would likely mean a full track on you.

(pure speculation m has verbal diarreah this morning)

In game, I've noticed marked difference in AI detection capability when with decks awash.
