See if you get any now. I do not recall seeing them pre patch 1.3. They are kind of cool and they flicker like the real ones. Only problem...the darn thing did not go out when it hit the water.

Yep, I had some DD's fire of a few when I hit a convoy near Osaka. I cannot remember them staying lit when they hit the water. They are a nice effect and I wonder how many skippers are going to be caught watching the firework display as a DD creeps too close from another direction?

Saw a ton of them yesterday. They stay lit while underwater (for now anyway). Sounds like another mod waiting to happen

I've seen tons of them, it seems when I attack a convoy. They fire about a dozen or so of them. The first time I saw them, I thought they were fireing at me so I crash dived and then realized they were just star shell

Pinned down by 3 escorts for some time and DD were randomly firing starshells, could here the guns being fired submerged

I've seen em for a while now ... somewhere around 1.3 I believe.
They do hang in the air a long time.

I'd seen them in 1.3, and they are still there in 1.4. Also, just like in 1.3, they tend to fire them off in broad daylight too, on a bright sunny day - go figure?

I also saw Star shells in 1.3 several Destroyers used them when i ambushed a convoy first i thought i was being lit up by searchlights then i realised my mistake pretty quickly! 4000+ mtrs searchlights dont work so good... starshells on the other hand are a right pain
![]() I believe a few modders recently were trying to do a mod where the starshells would be available for use on the subs... i've not been keeping current does anybody know if this was achieved? i know i can see the ammo types and amounts in S3D as i've altered the xml file so its pretty easy to alter standard ammo amounts or see what should be available on each gun might even have a little tinker myself. |

if both Leo and yourself have spent many hours on it i wonder if its worth me banging my head on the wall... if you guys cant do it then i'm sure with my little knowledge of modding files i certainly wont... I did at one point manage to get both deck guns to fire running on the AI while i was on the bridge but that was in 1.3 and a modified Balao ![]() PS do you have the ammo listed as being available in S3D but at a zero value or have you got ammo amounts showing on the screen (In game) but its not fireable? I know this is gonna earn me a slap but have you looked at the jap ship ammo loadouts as i've seen them fire the shells so maybe we can clone their ammo info.. if possible? keep up the good work. |
