The unidentified vehicle is a british "Archer" tank destroyer.
Based on the Valentine tank (Matilda and Valentine sound oh so threatening), this tank destroyer had its 17 pdr gun mounted rearwards, so the vehicle was parked backwards on the photo.
It could only fire rearwards, but not while being pursued as the breech block would have decapitated the driver while recoiling if he were seated.
The Archer features quite high on my "10 most pointless WW2 weapons" list.

Some one tell them to shut the rear landing gear doors on the B25!
They shouldn't be open when the plane is on the ground.

I guessed that unidentified tank was a Marder III but you guys are right.
