I'll be interested to see the performance hit with the longer rendering distance too. I have a mid range system that runs the game very smoothly with the graphics maxed out, but I have a feeling that this feature may cause me to have to slightly lower my settings if I install this patch.

I'll wait for performance related feedback before installing it.

Usually everyone wants a mod to increase visibility distance.

Now we're going to need a mod to reduce it. :rotfl:

Default See now,,,

I think a choice of distance rendering a la "Oblivion", could be implemented ( if engine permits it ) in the game, and ppl with mid/low range system could just choose the distance themselves without a perfomance hit choking the PC

Very rarely the game themselves messes up the PC. It is mostly the "enviroment" the game has to run in that causes most of the problem.
The daily dose is: Registry Cleaner, clean junk files (temp and so on). Did you know that left-over typed URL's can mess up so an application ( read: game ) won't run properly. Missing / broken links for example, can make so an application won't run, also, check the save files logs,,there are perfomance "eaters" in there, the save folders GROW fast.

There are 100:ed of things that doesn't have anything to do with the game software really, that can make a game not run properly.

Agreed. Options are always a good thing.

So, when is this patch due?

EDIT: Nevermind I answered this myself by reading official site:

"Scheduled for mid-to late November, this patch will bring a number of changes and fixes to the game"

Well I hope this patch will make me clean the dust off the game.

Default Wow

I'm completely reinvigored by this! These are some major changes... This also seems like an indication they are going to do another version if they are still developing on the tech... optamizations, dynimic spawning, and the 20k viewing distance... not too trivial.

It's like I'm waiting for the original release all over again!

Hats off to the sub sim comunity! You guys pushed hard for this and did it... I love you guys

I have never paid for a patch. Add-on yes. Patch never...... This patch will be free. Add-on...not sure. I'm guessing the add on is free.

Those days will soon be over.

You can probably of course mod it back out.

I hope the hull damage thing can be removed, otherwise I guess I'll have to put tape over part of the monitor.
