And you have done nothing to give an indication your around the area I have had DD's and Sub chasers go right by me with no clue I was there. But if you are spoted or have a scope up as they are aproaching or sent out a radio message reciently then they stay alert an nervous.

The conditions have to be right and when I did that there was 10 mps wind and waves.

Default I can't and won't say yes and or no until I know how it works

I have to see what the Dev's are doing and see how well it works and or dosn't work in game to base an opinion.

You know as well as all of us that it takes trial and error to see what looks works and act's best for us all in game.

We are all on pin's and needle's waiting to see what get's torn appart in our work and what will no longer be needed from us.

Wait and see what happens first Billko before you decied to mothball this great idea and work you did.

Thanks, Dave. I believe that DC goes beyond merely reporting damage. It makes reporting the damage fun. The nice thing is that you don't really know just how accurate the damage assesment is. I'd still continue using it and even try to avert my eyes from the actual hull damage display so I don't have an exact number to work with.

Besides, there's still the problem of getting damage to parts of the ship that don't show up - like having damage to a gun deck when there is no gun mounted there.

Maybe they'll fix the medals bugs so that they make sense and DC will be in agreement.

Sorry I haven't been around lately. Working 2nd shift so I'm away at night.

Bill

Good point.

By the way, I noticed quite a few pilot rescues on your kill flag (in your sig). What area do you usually patrol to get that assignment? I have yet to be called for a pilot rescue.

On my last patrol I slightly touched a reef and my crew reported that my hull was FUBAR and still I could dive to 250 feet. In fact when I looked at the hull damage bar it was greyd out and saying something along the lines: "Error. Damage...." (sorry, but I can't remember the rest.)

EDIT: Wohooo, 1000 posts and it only took my about 1 year and 4 month.

Default Warning, totally and irreversably off topic

billko, do you happen to know, off the top of your head (such a strange expression, wonder where it came from?), if the home base reported by your app would be the new base when one of those infamous "I'm gonna change your base and not tell you where it is" glitches happens? If so, it would probably make life easier for those folks that have been wandering all over looking for home. Just save the game, alt-tab out, fire up your app and "viola" there's no place like home (now that you know where it is). Just a thought.

Congrats on the 1000 posts Hyperion!

That's a great thought, I can only hope it works that way! And thanks for your congratulations!

If you could send me the activeunits.upc file from a saved game that has this, I'd be happy to look into this for you.

Digital_Trucker:

Yes, it *does* report your new base! I've used it many times to locate my new base when they pull that fast one on you. "Oh, look! My base is Perth-Fremantle" now!

Sure, but I don't know which folder contains this particular savegame. The folders are all called "000000" or "000000d".

Go into each saved game folder until you find a file called replayinfo.rep. If you open it with notepad, you'll see the name of your saved game there. (Actually, it's a binary file, but you can read the name clearly enough.)

Then send me a copy of the activeplayerunits.upc (sorry I mentioned the wrong file last night - it was almost 3am!).

Hey, thanks for the answer (especially since it was the one I was hoping for ). Now we'll have an easy answer when folks ask about the problem.
