HELP! Problems with graphics

I just installed ROW an TM 1.6.4 and now the fire burning when ships are hit looks really crappy. I don't know what causes this but before installing either ROW or TM 1.6.4 evrything was fine. So I was wondering if I did something wrong and if so, is it fixable?
Here are the modes I use. I installed them from top to bottom:
Captain Midnight's CBS News
ROW Objets Reflection vs1
ROW Ships Reflection vs1
ROW SUB Reflection vs2
ROW Textures vs2
ROW Classic Sea Foam
Trigger Maru GFX Pack 2_2
Trigger Maru 1.6.4
Silent Service Grahpics Mod

Here's an example how the fire looks right now:

The ironic thing is that the fire raging in that screenshot looks just like what the fire from burning Japanese ships looked like in the original 1996 Silent Hunter. Jagged and pixely. Especially when you sailed your sub real close to the burning wrecks.

I think we're on to something here. I wonder if we could market it as a "retro" game if we fudged up some more of the graphics?:rotfl:

SH1 did have a nice albeit spartan captain's cabin. Wouldn't mind having that back.

I knew the fire reminded me of something! God, how I loved SH1!

Yeah...I sometimes think I should try Dosbox or one of those operating system emulation programs so as to play it again. It certainly was no SH4 but in many respects it had some good crisp graphics for the time. It did spoil me tho. When I picked up Aces of the Deep a few weeks later I was rather dissappointed in it's more muddy graphics. But it was the earlier game and in many respects set the bar for subsims for years to come.

If memory serves me...the fire graphics from SH1 were pixelated, but they were not THAT bad!

BTW...I always thought that the torpedo explosions were pretty well done in SH1... with a nice rolling fireball...if i remember correctly.
