Default Destroyer Escort

I MAY end up visiting the Destroyer Escort USS Slater (DE-766) in about two weeks or so. She helped to escort 5 convoys across the Atlantic in 1944 and 1945.

Any interest in pictures? If so, any specific requests?

Bill,

Of course any and all pictures you can get. Was she equipped with hedghogs? If so I'd like some shots of the launcher. I'd also like to see the sonar and radar stations up close if possible.

A couple of good profile shots would be nice, along with close ups of her guns, depthcharges, bridge and as per the other request, sonar and radar rooms, if possible!

Cheers!

OK, some good profile shots, hedgehogs, sonar, radar, and bridge, and weapons.

I used to work for one of the docents that guides people through the ship, so I'm going to try and swing it so that I go when he is there, and he can probably get me access to things that aren't available to the general public.

The visit isn't set in stone, though, it depends on what Fraulein Puster wants to do during vacation.

They have a decent website:
http://www.ussslater.org
Pretty good pictures there.

I'll scan the QSL card I got for contacting them during the Ham Radio Museum Ships event later today.

It'll be weird walking the deck of one of my sworn enemies. I'll just have to pretend I'm part of a boarding party

Way too noisy. Just open the seacocks, and nobody will know until it's too late.

Oh, and in real life, have a great time. Tin Cans are cool.
