Default Sub vs. Sub

May 7 1941. (GWX, 1.03)

I was laying in ambush in front of a convoy when I noticed my hydrophone heard a warship I couldnt spot through my scope. Could this be a sub? I fired a steam eel, full speed, at 5 meter depth, when the suspected sub passed in front of my sub at around 400 meter. Jumped on free-cam to track my eel, this is what I saw;

(fooled around with gamma a bit)

The eel exploded just above the sub, behind the conning tower, leaving it immobile. Since there was a storm going on, and my hydrophone couldnt track it anymore because it was laying dead in the water, I decided to stay where I was to wait until it sank or the weather cleared up. Thats when a Black Swan came back from the convoy, found me, and depthcharged me to hell... This was the 3rd sub in a convoy I found, 3 partols in a row. They tend to be the last in line, at the right side, so If you have a mystery hydrophone contact, shoot an eel (but remember to put it just a meter lower than default depth, so you wíll take it down)

Happy Hunting!

Bonus; Why is a pirate a pirate?

Because they Arrr! :rotfl:

Interesting, Soma.

Once, while attacking a convoy, raised my persicope to see another periscope passing in front of me.

Careful when taking on Allied subs more so on the surface as they still can fire there deck gun at you in a rough sea, I should know many months ago I was chasing an American one down to close the gap and took some damage. But I got it when I was close in dived and fired a couple of T1's which found there target.

I have encountered a few enemy subs in convoy as well; the symbol for the comvoy seems to be of the roundish variety instead of the normal square one when a sub is present.

I fired my last two torps at the sub, scoring only one hit.....didn't sink though...didn't even stop!

Shouldn't a torp hit on an sub not be instant death?

Anyway I am not gonna waste any more eels on midget-vessels like that...I was sent to sink tonnage, lots of it!

I think subs are a bit overpowered - just yesterday I stumbled into a American sub off the coast of New York. Intercepted the blighter and gave him a T1 that hit the strern of his boat, blackening the last 5m or so of hull. Didn't faze him tough, he didnt slow down nor show any inclination to sink, so I went after him on the surface, ignoring the hail of lead he flung at me in 15 m/s winds, (even firing his deck gun through his own conning tower yet damaging me) and managed to hit him beneath his bow with another T1. Still no dice tough, she sailed merrily on her way and after stalking her for an hour or so I gave up. (No more torps left)

Finally, I see a good model of British S-class. Somehow, developers of various games avoided using such a model. One could be found in SH2 but with very low polycount.

I came across one on the surface at night off the French coast. It was a Gato class. I approached her on the and opened up with my deck gun. She tried firing back several times but missed. I sank her with 7 waterline shots.

I came across a convoy in the BE area, that on first site looked like it had already been attacked. Some ships were on fire the escorts were racing around and on fire to, then i spotted a submarine bow sticking out the water use camera to take a look and it looked like another VII boat.

First impression a wolf pack had got here first.

I wonder, can an enemy submerged AI sub attack you with torpedoes?

Hi,

Don't think that is possible, only when surfaced with the Deck Gun.
