Default NYGM or GWX?

Hey all, just had to reformat my pc and I just got around to putting SH3 back on the HD.

Been playing vanilla for a couple hours but had enough so I am wondering which mod should I get?

What are the main differences between NYGM and GWX? Any pro's or con's of each mod?

Thanks in advance!

Your best off D/L both and setting up a dual install so you have to versions of teh game one NYGM one GWX and see which one floats your boat.

I have played both and the only thing I'm sure is that I can't tell which one is "better" in terms of realism or hardcore. My opinion is that it ends up being a personal matter of which gameplay you prefer. Each mod makes decissions and takes options for each subject of the game, and while the end results are always good, they are somehow different.

GWX has however tons of eye-candy that NYGM does not ship, if that can be a factor for you (Positive if you like eye-candy, or negative if your PC struggles to run a modded SH3).

My advice: Download both, make dual installs and try yourself.

I personally played mainly NYGM, but it is a subjective and personal choice, and no way would I be dissapointed or unable to enjoy the game if I had to stick to GWX. Quite the contrary, but I have only one life and little spare time, and I ended up playing with the one I started with and was more used to.

I think the main difference is that GWX has lot more graphical "eye-candy"..and that can strain your computer is case like mine (when not having "way-over-recommended-specifications-computer".

I downloaded NYGM for that reason after I got bored with stock game...and also because it's way smaller d/l. After I get enough gameplay with NYGM, I'll try GWX to see if I can run it satisfactorily.

Well, my answer will be try them both like others said. And for my experience, I have been a lot of time with NYGM but now I'm GWX user, why? Because for me It have everything I like (lot of new ships, excellent airplanes covery the Bay of Biscay in late years, excellent campaign and historically accurate battles and operations, and also realism is in proper level also, anyway I play in 100% realism, lot of improved things and I must to said GREAT MOD). NYGM is also great and lot of realism and hard play is there, much less ships then GWX and the NYGM not cover many historically battles, historically convoys is there, also med campaign, the crew managment is perfect. Some things I very much like from NYGM like slideout small TDC dials and assisted plotting mod, I included in GWX and have a game for my taste. Also a lot of help I had from GWX team and when I asked some question I had an answer for that question. GWX is live mod must say (always some new things around and been implemented in). NYGM team stop the work on their mod, and very little interest here is for improve this mod by now (adding more new ships...). Because of that and much more I'm now a proud GWX user! My personal wish by the moment is to learn "Hardcore manual navigation", and then I will be a real U-boat captain.

I like GWX because my system can handle all of the additional graphics. I like the immersion.

I run both, I am new to this so the more I play the more I learn. GWX is beautiful and with my X2 4800 and a 7800 GT I can run it smoothly. Its nice to setup multiple installs, with SH3Commander, works a treat!

Enjoy

Thanks for the replies guys, I'll take the majority of peoples advice and install both on 2 different SH3's on my pc and then decide after I've played enough.
