Default Kiel Canal problem

Hi everyone,

What a stunning game shiii is, just got hold of it and can't get enough.

I have installed patch 1.4b and then GWX and am having problems with time compression.

When i plot a course in or out of the Kiel canal everything works fine until i'm just inside the canal (maybe a bit further) and then I can't seem to enable time compression. As i don't really have the time to wait the 7 hours or so it takes to get through the canal i end up going around denmark. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Do you suggest I uniinstall everthing and then do a clean install?

This also seems to happen if i'm near the land generally...

Any help much appreciated

Welcome Mate.

Built into GWX is an auto plotting tool for the canal. You can find it under the NAV Officers orders for search patterns. Use this before you even move from your mouring.

The TC is knocked down by your close proximity to land. The auto plot will help you here as the waypoint/course has been placed correctly. However, you can still bump up your TC if you are using SH3Cmdr. I find a TC of 128 near land is best.

Good Luck & Enjoy GWX

Welcome aboard, Kaleun Frost!

I partially solved the Kiel Kanal problem by reducing speed to 4 kts, this allows for higher TC during transit. Once I shofted to a VIIB, I ended going through the Skagerrat.

There's nothing wrong with your installation.
Good hunting, and don't be afraid to ask questions, we have great and helpful people here

Do as Dan suggested
I whip through the canal at 256 at times
Others I sail through

If you dont use SH3 commander you can edit the main.cfg in the SH3 folder in my documents
