Default the TDC

Ok, I don't know if anybody has thought of this before, but how did the info inputted into the TDC get from there, to the Torpedo itself? In other words, how did the torpedo know what to do as instructed by the TDC after it was fired out of the tube.

By wire connected to the torpedo.

The info was fed into the torpedo before it left the tube via electric and mechanical means

And just so you know, that's why it took so long to reload torpedoes: they had to be placed in the tube just right, and then all that TDC connection stuff had to be hooked up, or else no go.

Not sure about the impact and mag settings though

Standing orders around Weserubung with all the torpedo problems were 3 impact and 1 mag loaded in the tubes

If it could be changed while in tube there would have been no need for that order

Quote:
I have come to the following conclusions regarding the boats:

1)In Zone O and to the north of it, keep 3 torpedoes with switch setting A, and 1 torpedo with magnetic fuse setting, ready for action.

2)Fire on ships only with setting A. Depth setting depth 2 meters.

3)Always double shot, first torpedo setting A, depth 3 meters, then torpedo with magnetic setting, depth - draught - 1 meter, time interval if possible 8 seconds
