I think BdU hates me...

Anyone else been tasked with infiltrating the Firth of Clyde and sneakin up on the HMS Rodney at anchorage near Greenock? I wouldn't usually even try, what with subnets/minefields/depths of about 10 meters and all....but...orders are orders right? Any ideas (other than to go into reverse and get the heck out of dodge) to help this Kaleun keep up with Prien and his smarmy attitude since the Royal Oak?

Well, yes, there has been some talk at BDU concerning you and your future.....it is in peril. Go in at night time and good luck.

Yeah thats exactly what it is, sorry i should have said that from the beginning.
So as of now, im about 6 hours out from the Rodney's anchorage, im puttin along at 1 knot with decks awash at about 7-9 meters, hoping not to run into a minefield or nets and just kinda watching that armed trawler mosey around about 150 yards in front of me, blissfully unaware. If it were better weather, id surface behind the git and light his DC racks up, but discretion being the better part of not getting yourself killed, im just gonna follow him as far as i can. Weather is cruddy, but thats good. Just wish it'd get darker soon, so i can run on the surface for a while and make some good time.

The Firth actually seems VERY underdefended at the moment, not that i trust it.
(only one DD and the Trawler so far)

yeah no kidding, im starting to have second thoughts about it, especially since its such an easy port to block off escape routes...
if the missions aren't required, do you just get extra renown for completing it?
i'll have to check my orders again, cuz at this point im not sure if it tells me to actually ATTACK the Rodney or just confirm that its in the harbor, which could
make things SLIGHTLY easier.
of course, who am i kidding, if i see that f*cker im gonna unload on him...

are there any ports that are considerably easier to hit than this? what i mean, are there ones with less in the way of anti-sub defenses (mines, nets) that usually have a good amount of traffic in the harbor? (i recall someone saying NYC is pretty lightly defended in those regards)

I'm not sure I'd class getting blown out of the water in the firth of clyde fun. Now deck gunning merchants in rekjavik is a different matter. That is fun

What year is this?

If it's after 1940, then my answer is:

RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!
