I imagine some people must think they've got weird neighbours.....

"That one always has a sinister red glow coming from that room...."

"There seem to be frantic noises of running around with bells and screams at all hours of the night...."

"We have a neighbour who comes into his kitchen wearing red goggles....suddenly curses and runs back through his apartment....."

Now that is hardcore. I don't have a red light but if I used it my family would start asking when my Crusher cap arrives in the mail.:rotfl:

I just explained to mine that it helped me see in the dark. They kind of understand.

"Kind of" is code for "they love me but they're concerned".

I'm sure they are. My kids sometimes ask me why I scream AAAAALLLLAAARRRRMMM!!!! in the middle of the night when they are asleep.

"Quiet girls," my wife says, "daddy is just playing on the computer."

Also if you find it difficult to see in the night try to alter your monitor settings. If this doesn't work then try to insatall the light version of the visibility mod in GW.

Yes, are you having trouble see or was this just a question on detection? In all reality, pitch black, the U-boat could be within the convoy motoring about without being detected. Usually detection was made by radar or the tanker that has just exploded. My set up and monitor allows me to see ships about 4000m off. My watch is like Eagle Eye GI Joe, they can see them 15000m off. I guess they eat their carrots!
Finnish airplane pilots received extra portions of butter in order to gain nightvision .
