TWoS Sextant doesn't work

Hey guys,
I want to use and learn real navigation. Unfortunately my sextant doesn't work. I toggle the sextant view from the Navigator pop up and i get this screen where I can enable and disable the sextant. When I press enable, I kind of get the view of the UZO. I can only move up and down +/-20°. The altitude stays blank. I have that button that says after mouse hover "click to use sextant". but that acts more like a stadimeter. whatever I do with it, the altitude line stays blank.

I have a clean SH5 install via uplay launcher, followed the instructions of TWoS read me. I have to admit, I didn't always run the game as admin, but my last try was with admin rights and it didn't work as well.

IS it so hard to elaborate how so that other can see as well?

It was simply nothing special about it. Reinstalled everything. Did everything like before.

So just reinstalling fixed the issue? I am having the same issue now and tried to reinstall but still having the issue

I hade the same issue and manage to solve it.

I think the issue had to do with the Generic Patcher, I didn't quite understand how to install it the first time around. It was basically to click File - Open then press Yes like 200 times, then click File - Restore snapshot and select the snapshot.

Better explained below, from http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=217280

- Start TDW GenericPatcher. (TDW_GenericPatcher_v_1_0_164_0)
- Choose English
- Click in the Menu: File > Open
- The TDW GenericPatcher will now ask for some file locations. All the files are located in the SH5 installation path, parallel to the SH5.exe
- All files will get edited so just click [YES].
- Once all the files are choosen and edited you will see a list.
- Choose: File > Restore snapshot > Dragons_GenericPatcher_Snapshot.gps

Good afternoon.

I am experiencing the same issue as the OP. I have attempted a complete re-install and the issue persists (though it is now more pronounced).

The sextant opens a view fixed to the uzo position. I can rotate 360 degrees and elevate approximately 80 degrees. The numerical values for azimuth and altitude are completely wrong. Azimuth maxes out at 36,000 degrees with altitude maxing out just over 9000 degrees (Note that the sight is elevated at 80 degrees at this point. The use sextant button creates a horizontal line that may only elevate to the top of the view thus making the measurement of elevation difficult.
