Want to ask about buying the game.

Been a member of this forum since 2005 i think, well at least since silent huner 3 anyway.

I recently saw TWOS on a site, and would like to try it out.

The thing is i didnt buy SH5 on release, no real need to go into the why, but after i installed uplay (latest version) i noticed that its not available to buy anymore.

However i found a site G2A.com selling Uplay keys for the gold edition £3.80 as of writing, and was wondering if its genuine. As i dont own the disc, i dont
know what will happen. will it let me download through uplay?

If anyone can help i would be grateful, as i have always considered this site, wonderful for the mods, and support for getting older games working.

Hi Dogstar, welcome back !

From where you buy it is not so important, what is important is that you can update the game to version 1.2.0 before installing the TWoS mod.

So make a careful enquiry to ensure you can update the game!

did you download the game directly from uplay, or did you already have a disc.
I dont want to pay for a key, then have no way of playing, also does anyone know if i can use generic patcher, as i have heard it will only work with the disc version.

I bought the PC DVD years ago, but getting this disc wouldn't help you much now because Ubisoft is no longer supporting the game (server is dead).
You could get the game from Steam (patching and then installing TWoS will work), but if not in a sale it will be more expensive than elsewhere I guess. Big question is if buying 'elsewhere' you can then update the game.

Yea thanks everyone, i bit the bullet last night, and purchased a key. Used it and the game appeared in my account to download. Took a while with my super fast 4mb broadband connection.

Installed and tested found that it was already updated to version 1.20, pity that you cant download an installer, so that you dont have to keep doing it.

I dont have german voices like in some videos i watched online, they sound american.

I installed TWOS 2.26 Full, and followed the instructions, but now i get a black screen, and the game wont respond. I have to do a hard reset of my computer.

So if anyone can help me get it working i would be grateful. Almost forgot im on Windows 10 Pro 64bit, dont know if that matters, and im running SH5.exe as admin.

Never mind im a moron, upon searching SH5 Mods section, i found a topic relating to the very problem i was having.

It turns out that it is normal, and that i was not giving it time to load, thinking that the game had crashed.

So thankyou again for all your help.

Hi Dogstar359! For how long did you wait? Up to 5 min of "blackness" after the initial loading screen is quite normal with TWoS on board due to vastly increased nations rooster...
