Hope anyone who is in the path of this one has gotten well away from the coast. If it continues on its projected path, this could be a really bad one, skirting the coast from West Palm Beach, Florida all the way up to NC.

Matthew is at the moment a bit unpredictable. The latest computer and ensemble models have it looping clockwise and back accross Florida. Ensemble is parroting the GFS model which is comparable to UKMET longrange forecast both have been very accurate in past seasons. Time will tell. One thing is for sure if it does skirt Hatteras and heads out to sea. Fishing is gonna be good where Im at!

If, as predicted here on Danish weather news, take the Atlantic course it will go down to a 2nd
Wonder if Matthew will grow if it turned left and toke a tour over the Mexican Golf ? going form a 3 or 4 to a 4 or 5 Markus |

If you heard on the news we had rather a nasty storm here in South Australia less than a week ago. We had a small tornado go through our place, was the most frightening thing I've ever been through. I was caught outside when it hit, all I could do was cringe against the wall and pray!! The roar was deafening a mixture of wind, breaking tree branches, and various items breaking/falling apart!!
![]() My wife's poor garden built under a tree is badly damaged but the tree is smashed. We had 3 antennas up, all have been bent over. ![]() Could have been a lot worse though, at least the house is ok. It's gonna take a while to clean up the mess and repair the damage! ![]() This is the first time a cyclone has hit the SA coast, IIRC 22 electricity towers were flattened. Crazy weather!! ![]()

It looks like my family and myself are going to be in the thick of it being to the north of West Palm Beach. We're as prepared as we can be and this is going to be our first experience with a hurricane. I got called into work today and it was a madhouse with lots of people getting last minute supplies like water, batteries, bread and so on. The store ran out of water within one hour or so of getting another nine pallets in and more are expected tonight or really early tomorrow morning.

Only good thing about this is Florida is at least on the weakside of the storm.

Hearing from you guys here on the forum, it really brings it home. We're relieved it's not us, but we're listening to the news bulletins and hoping you all get through okay.

Yeah, this one looks beastly alright, I doubt the loop scenario will happen...but I guess it's not out of the question, I've not heard of any hurricanes in recent years doing such a thing.
![]() EDIT: Upon further research I found that Hurricane Jeanne in 2004 performed a loop, so there's that example I guess. Last edited by Oberon; 10-06-16 at 08:04 AM. |

Thanks.
![]() Thanks and I hope that we and everyone else will stay safe as too! We just go the bit of rain from the outer bands about ten minutes ago. The local news is saying that the storm will go from a category 3 to a category 4 sometime between today and tomorrow and the likely track for this storm is it will loop back towards us after the weekend.
