I'd give a Noble Prize in a heartbeat to anyone who can come up with a decent Bacon Taco.

What next? A Noble Peace Prize for Hitler, in recognition of his mediation in the Spanish Civil War?!

There's one helluva leap between nomination to that award and actually getting it. Not gonna happen, no-way, no-how. There's always those that deserve it better, even them Norweigans at the helm of that particular prize know this :P

Considering that the founder of the prize has defined it to be rewarded for already accomplished extraordinary achievements on behalf of military arms reduction - this and nothing else! -, you will not find many winners who deserve it.

Even worse, quite some winners not only deserve not this prize, but also not any other.

In my view, the respectability of the Peace Nobel prize is nill. If I would be given it, I would refuse, but keep the money of course (self-made stupidity should be exploited, I believe), and then maybe file a legal complaint about getting offended by this attempted character assassination. Too many names on that award's list that I do not wish to get mentioned with in one breath.

I think the UN should decide on the the prize. The two would truly deserve each other.

Plus we should not forget the Alfred Nobel himself invented Dynamite, Gelignite and Ballistite.

Yes

http://www.nobelprize.org/nomination...ow&showid=2609

Quote:
Adolf Hitler was nominated once in 1939. Incredulous though it may seem today, the Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1939, by a member of the Swedish parliament, an E.G.C. Brandt. Apparently though, Brandt never intended the nomination to be taken seriously. Brandt was to all intents and purposes a dedicated antifascist, and had intended this nomination more as a satiric criticism of the current political debate in Sweden. (At the time, a number of Swedish parliamentarians had nominated then British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlin for the Nobel Peace Prize, a nomination which Brandt viewed with great skepticism. ) However, Brandt's satirical intentions were not well received at all and the nomination was swiftly withdrawn in a letter dated 1 February 1939.

And not forgetting everyones other favourite peace loving freedom bringer:

Quote:
Joseph Stalin, the Secretary General of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1922-1953), was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1945 and 1948 for his efforts to end World War II.
