I loved the movie, but the book was amazing.

Red Storm Rising is one of the all time best books, ever.

I agree on that. Wonder if they have or have plan on making a movie based on Red Storm Rising.

I seriously doubt it.

And if they did, they'd probably ruin it or make it politically correct. Clooney, Brad Pitt, or Matt Damon or something would be in the lead role.

Movie? No. They'd have to make a miniseries to capture it. I would love to see it made, though. Just as long as they keep it in the '80s, instead of trying to set it in the current era.

Indeed.

War & Remembrance is my favorite miniseries ever. I could envision something like that.

Like all movies released on the big screen its all about getting bums on seats and the more the better the profit. Dose not matter how good or awful it is as long as they get you to see it thats all that matters them.

Funny this thread came up as two nights ago I was watching on the video.

Oh heck here we go...whats a video STEED?

This is a video machine..

And this is a video tape that went inside it to watch..

OK now that is sorted out back to the topic. I've never read the book but in most cases the transfer from book to film has always been sliced and diced so I look upon the film version as entertainment only, not bad to kill a few hours of boredom.

When the narrator referred to a torpedo as a missile I immediately had to stop. All it became then was a rant about what somebody else thought were movie "sins." ****in nubs...

As a huge Tom Clancy fan, I have to ask the OP, or anybody. Was the book flawed as well?

I never read this particular book.

I know Hollywood can ruin movies based on books, Stephen King hates what Kubrick did with The Shining.

Just wondering. I hate to see one of my favorite storytellers bashed.

I am ashamed
